What is coaching?
Coaching is encouraging, hope-filled, motivational and action-driven. It is about calling forth the intellect, brilliance, amazing problem-solving, and creativity in you. It’s also about growing in self awareness, personal strengths and stretching yourself to staying intentional about your healing journey.
An easy way to view coaching is through a medical analogy. You are in a major car accident (discovery or relapse day). You are rushed into surgery, they just want to get the bleeding to stop, get it contained (initial support could look like pastor, mentor). Days later (in our case sometimes weeks or months) you are still in the hospital. Your body is beginning to heal from the traumatic day (scabs appearing) they decide to go in for another surgery to “fix” somethings. (Therapist). Following surgery your body is beginning to heal well but the muscles are still weak. You are referred out to Physical Therapy (Coaching). You are given individual who assesses the injury, understands the workings of a healthy body and helps you construct a plan of recovery. You both work to come up with exercises that will both improve and strength your body and heart.
What can you expect?
We will work together to help you look at where you are now and where you would like to be. Together we will work to bridge that gap. We will pray together…probably cry together, and run hard after Jesus together.
I believe that accountability is just as important for a spouse as it is for the addict. This is a great place to find accountability and keep moving toward healing as you learn new tools to navigate your journey.

Family Recovery Coach, Amanda Valantine, is a wife and mom who has been in recovery from her husband’s sexual addiction and infidelity since discovery and full disclosure while they were in full-time ministry in 2009. Thanks to God’s grace and healing, Matt and Amanda are still married and recovering daily with the support of friends and recovery programs. However, this has not been an easy road.
For the last 10 years, Amanda has worked with families in recovery, including couples, teenagers, and children, to heal from the hurts of addiction and infidelity. Amanda started a Celebrate Recovery in Bowling Green, Ohio in 2013. She is also the founder and director of Grace Place Recovery Centers, a non-profit dedicated to the rebuilding of families devastated by addiction. Amanda is clear to share with all her clients that without Christ, she would not be on the healing and coaching path. It was because of the soul-searching work with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that her marriage was restored and she is able to help women today.
The recovery journey has not been easy, but with God it has been possible. There have been hard days, weeks, months filled with tears, triggers, slips, and relapses, but God has been faithful. Her husband Matt continues to work his recovery program daily. Matt and Amanda have 4 children and are licensed foster parents in Ohio. Amanda also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate to represent the best interests of children who are in the system. Matt and Amanda are committed to the fight against sexual addiction and the fight FOR recovery, hope, and healing, especially in their own marriage and family. Amanda is thrilled to partner with Hope Redefined to bring healing to wives of sexual betrayal trauma through individual coaching and group coaching. To coach with Amanda please contact us today.
